Eduardo and his wife, Belkis, are a young Christian couple who have been married for not quite two years. They attend the church where Belkis’ dad is a pastor, in a community near Siguatepeque. In fact, her dad is José Manuel Alonzo, who is another loan beneficiary of the Society of the Good Shepherd. (José Manuel supports himself and his family through a watch repair shop, which we featured in our July, 2008 Newsletter.)

Eduardo and Belkis
Eduardo and Belkis have a hard-working spirit, and they are really making an effort to set up their household. So they thought about starting a barbershop in downtown Siguatepeque. Eduardo has 14 years of experience as a barber, having worked in his father’s barbershop through the years. Interestingly, it was in his father’s barbershop that Eduardo first heard the gospel through a young missionary who regularly got his haircuts there.

Customers in the Waiting Area
Eduardo and Belkis started their barbershop in the beginning of September this year, and God has really blessed their efforts. The Lord guided the Society to help this young couple, granting them a loan to buy some of the equipment and supplies for the barbershop. So far, the business has exceeded their expectations, and God has been so faithful in sending them new customers. As a result, the number of their customers grows more and more every week.

Belkis asked me to express these words to those who made the loan possible: “I am very thankful to the Society of the Good Shepherd Society, because I’ve seen what you’ve done for my father and now, for the help that you’re giving my husband and me. Thank you so much.”
