Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." Matt. 25:40

Honduras microloan Over the past ten years, we have written articles about Juana and Martha Delcid, two of our loan beneficiaries. Juana and Martha are sisters, who both operate businesses selling souvenirs, pottery, crafts, lawn ornaments, and similar items. Their businesses are located near each other along the Pan American highway, which runs along the outskirts of Siguatepeque. Since the businesses of Juana and Martha have both done well, a third sister, Lucia, recently applied for and received an interest-free loan from the Society.

Honduras microloan Lucia already had an established souvenir and crafts business going, located near those of her two sisters. However, she lacked sufficient inventory to really make her business thrive. With the loan, she has been able to expand her inventory considerably. The increased income comes at a key time for Lucia. She is supporting two children, and her oldest son just completed sixth grade. In Honduras, education is free up through the sixth grade. The students only needing to supply their own uniforms and school supplies. However, students have to begin paying for their schooling if they want to continue their education and attend junior high and high school.

So they are totally dependent upon their three daughters for support. Please pray with us that the Lord will continue to prosper all three of their businesses. Nancy Barahona

My Battle With Cancer

You may have noticed that we skipped several issues of our newsletter. The reason is that I have been dealing with cancer. I learned this past September that I had prostate cancer. I decided to go against the cancer quickly and aggressively. Ten days ago I underwent surgery at Johns Hopkins hospital. From all indications, we caught the cancer early, and it has not spread beyond the prostate. I thank everyone for their prayers. Please pray that I will continue to regain my strength and that the cancer will not somehow return. David Bercot
