David Bercot. Are all “Bible-believing” Christians the same? Isn’t it enough that we all believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior? In this vital message, Bercot explains that there is an enormous difference between ordinary “Bible-believing” Christians and genuine “Kingdom Christians”—Christians who live by the Kingdom teachings of Jesus. Description
What Is a Kingdom Christian?
When Christianity was young, Christians recognized the Kingdom of God as the primary authority in their lives. They avoided entanglements with the governments of this world, along with their politics and wars. They were first of all citizens of God’s Kingdom and only secondarily citizens of the earthly nation in which they lived. Their fellow countrymen are all of the other citizens of God’s Kingdom around the world. Furthermore, they recognized Jesus as their ultimate Lawgiver and His Sermon on the Mount as their primary Constitution.
However, in the 4th century, Christians changed their focus from advancing the Kingdom of God to trying to create a “Christian” world. In the end, they didn’t Christianize the world. Rather, the world sucked them in. Professing Christians began killing one another, torturing one another, forming permanent class distinctions between the rich and poor, persecuting Jews, and—in general—ignoring most of Jesus’ Kingdom teachings. But not all Christians went down this blind path. There were tens of thousands of Christians who made a decision to live by the Kingdom teachings of Jesus. Bercot refers to these people as “kingdom Christians.”
There have been thousands of kingdom Christians living in every century since the time of Christ. And there are still tens of thousands of kingdom Christians around today. They do not all attend the same churches or denominations. But they are all alike in that they seek first in their lives the Kingdom of God. Are you one of these kingdom Christians?
