What the Early Christians Believed About Separation from the World. D. Bercot. The Bible exhorts us: Adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. So unless we want to be an enemy of God, we need to live a life of separation from the world. This is how Christians lived when the church was still young.
In this message, Bercot pinpoints five areas where the early Christians lived differently from the world around them:
• Material riches and job employment
• Entertainment
• Participation in government
• Modesty and dress
• Purity and marital fidelity

Reviews
My teenage son and I listened to this together. David Bercot brings up some thought provoking points to ponder. It makes great sense. I highly recommend this CD.
This message, and the message entitled “What the Early Christians Believed about The Kingdom Parables of Jesus”, are the two messages from brother Bercot that have challenged me the most. All of the points in this message desperately need to be heard by all who profess to be Christians, since a joining of the church and the world is so widely accepted today and the teachings in this message are so often overlooked.. The New Testament is crystal clear on these points, and the Early Christian writings show us that these points can indeed be put into practice in everyday life. Separation from the world was a key part of the early Christians’ witness to the lost world and it desperately needs to be recovered today. As much as I am challenged by brother Bercot’s discussion of the main points of this message, to me it is the closing minutes of this message that are the real highlight. Those last few minutes are a real gem, as a vision of what Christianity once was – and what it once again can be! – is very beautifully set forth. This is a highly, highly, recommended message.
